Under his guidance, India reached the finals of the 2003 ODI World Cup and emerged victorious in the 2002 Champions Trophy. In addition to his illustrious cricketing career, Ganguly has remained in the spotlight due to his recent statement concerning the India vs. Pakistan fixture in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in India.

While matches between India and Pakistan in World Cups often generate significant anticipation and hype, it is worth noting that India has maintained a flawless record against Pakistan in ODI encounters. However, their unbeaten streak came to an end during the T20 World Cup 2021, where India suffered a 10-wicket defeat to Pakistan in Dubai.

Speaking on Star Sports, Ganguly shared his perspective on the India-Pakistan rivalry, stating, “There is a lot of hype around this match, but the quality hasn’t been that good for a long time because India kept winning one-sided contests. Pakistan probably defeated India for the first time in the T20 World Cup in Dubai. India did not perform well in that tournament, but in my opinion, India vs. Australia tends to be a better contest in the World Cup due to the higher quality of cricket displayed.”
