Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly has decided not to take part in the Legends League, citing personal reasons on Saturday, 3 September. The fans in Kolkata had been waiting for a decade to see local hero Ganguly taking the field once again but according to the reports of India Today, that is not happening anymore.
Sources in the know revealed to India Today that Sourav Ganguly would not be taking a part in the one-off game, in the Legends League where Indian Maharajas were scheduled to face World XI, led by Eoin Morgan.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was scheduled to feature a match at Eden Gardens on the occasion of Azadi Ki Amrit Maha Utsav. This match is scheduled to be played against India Maharajas vs World XI at Eden on September 16.
People were also ready to watch the reunion of former cricketers. Sourav Ganguly was very excited about the match because, at one time, Virender Sehwag, and Harbhajan Singh played under his leadership. But this time the city residents will be disappointed because despite the fact that the rest of the former cricketers play, maybe Sourav will not be seen playing the game.

According to sources, Sourav Ganguly has withdrawn from the game citing personal reasons. The project has Ganguly’s childhood friend Sanjay Das in a major role. Ganguly’s exit from the game is expected to reduce the huge interest that was generated. Many would have gone to the ground to see Sourav’s batting and aggressive captaincy once again, which may not happen again.
