South Africa Announces ODI Squad For India Tour

Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen will be making a comeback in the South African ODI squad after being named in the 15-member team for the series in India. Du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen were earlier rested for the ongoing three-match ODI home series against Australia.

In a recent tweet, Cricket South Africa (CSA) clarified that Tabraiz Shamsi and his wife Khadija are expecting the birth of their first child, so he was unavailable for the selection. Wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock will be leading the team and the left-arm spinner, George Linde has been called-up for the ODI squad for the first time.

In their tweet, South Africa, “Left-arm spinner, George Linde has received his maiden call-up into the Proteas’ ODI team ahead of their short outbound tour to India from 12-17 March 2020. It will consist of a 3-match ODI series taking place in Dharamsala, Lucknow and Kolkata”.

The three-match ODI series between India and South Africa is scheduled to commence on March 12 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. However, the second match will be played at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on March 15. The series will be concluded at the famed Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 18.

Indian squad for the ODI series is yet to be announced as they just witnessed a 0-2 loss in the two-match Test series against New Zealand. On the other hand, South Africa is hosting Australia for an ODI series after suffering a 1-2 loss in the T20I series.
