South Africa is planning to prepare a green top wicket at Cape Town’s Newland Stadium. They have asked Centurion’s curator to come over there to help to prepare the wicket.

India and South Africa are going to battle in a three-match Test series, commencing from tomorrow (January 5), where hosts are in no mood to let their visitors go away with any Trophy. Thus, they are going to target India’s weakness of batting on green wickets, where the ball moves so much.

In the process, Centurion curator Bryan Bloy flown to Cape Town to assist Newlands Stadium curator Evan Flint, who is facing trouble to prepare green tinge due to drought in that region.

A Cricket South Africa (CSA) official confirmed the same to CricketNext and said “The boys don’t just want a fast wicket, they also want seam movement. The idea is to work on South Africa’s strength and India’s weakness. Bloy was flown in to assist Flint in his preparations. I would like to believe this is how modern-day cricket works with home teams playing to their strength. Remember the 2015 series between these two teams in India?”

India always troubles to bat in those conditions, which was seen during India Sri Lanka series when Suranga Lakmal exploded their batting order under overcast conditions of Kolkata. The same story happened in Dharamshala’s green conditions and Indian batting order collapsed to 29/7 in that ODI game.

The series will commence from January 5 in Cape Town followed by Centurion and Johannesburg as the venue of second and third Test respectively.
