South Africa completed a commanding 2–0 series whitewash over India with a clinical victory in the second Test at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The Proteas outplayed the hosts in all departments, riding on standout individual performances and disciplined bowling spells that India simply couldn’t counter across five days.

The tone was set in the first innings itself when Senuran Muthusamy produced a superb knock of 109, supported brilliantly by Marco Jansen’s 93, pushing South Africa to a strong total. Although India fought back through Kuldeep Yadav’s 4/115, they couldn’t prevent the visitors from gaining early control.

India’s reply faltered immediately. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 58 was the lone fighting effort as the Proteas’ spin-pair tightened the screws. Marco Jansen (6/48) delivered a devastating spell, backed by Simon Harmer’s 3/64, bundling India out cheaply and giving South Africa a massive advantage.

In the second innings, South Africa chose to bat long and pile on the pressure. Tristan Stubbs (94) anchored the innings superbly before Ravindra Jadeja (4/62) trimmed the tail. With a mammoth target of 549 set for India, the hosts walked into an almost impossible chase.

India’s final innings saw Jadeja once again fighting with a valiant 54, but Harmer ran through the batting order with a sensational 6/37, supported by Keshav Maharaj’s 2/37, as India folded without resistance. By the final session, South Africa etched their names in the history book with a memorable win—one that will be remembered not just for dominance but also for their ruthless consistency across both Tests.

With this victory, the Proteas won a historic Test series in India, cementing their rise in the longest format after winning teh WTC final earlier this year, while raising serious questions about India’s preparation and temperament in crucial moments.
