During the first T20I of Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand in 2010 at Auckland, Tim Southee registered his career-best T20I figures of 4-1-18-5, which included a maiden T20I hat-trick, the third ever in T20Is.

Having won the toss, Ross Taylor, the then New Zealand captain, had won the toss and chose to bowl. Pakistan ended up scoring 143-9 in 20 overs. Wahab Riaz, who came in to bat at No. 9, top-scored with 30* (21) with the help of two fours and two sixes. Apart from Southee, Kyle Mills and Scott Styris picked up three and one wicket respectively.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, New Zealand’s run rate never really dropped down. They sealed the chase in the 18th over with five wickets to spare. Martin Guptill top-scored with 54 (29) with the help of four fours and four sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-38-3, Shoaib Akhtar was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers.
