India’s sporting fraternity came together on Sunday to salute the essential services providers involved in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, by clapping for them or sharing gratitude through videos on their respective social media handles too.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged everyone for a ‘Janta Curfew’ and express gratitude towards the health-care workers and other basic service providers amid this dangerous situation, and his appeal received a great response from all the citizens on Sunday evening.

Indian men’s hockey team coach Sjoerd Marjine shared a video of all the players clapping at their training centre in Bengaluru. Wearing the team’s jersey, the players positioned themselves on different floors of the building and clapped for them as well. On the other hand, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag took to Twitter and shared his gratitude as well.
