There still seems to be no clarity on the status of CVC Capitals as one of the franchise owners in the IPL. While the company is hopeful of getting the nod from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the board is yet to make an official announcement on the matter.

Accoridng to Cricbuzz’s report, a retired judge has been appointed by the BCCI for consultation on the matter. It has also been learned that even in a case where CVC Capitals go on to lose the Ahmedabad franchise, the team will not be given to the second-highest bidders.

In a case where the BCCI cancels CVC Capitals’ association with the league over their investments in betting businesses, the BCCI would need to roll out a fresh tender to invite new bids. In such a case, the plans of the 2022 edition of the league can also suffer a delay.
