After the indefinite postponement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 mid-season, several England county clubs have expressed interest in hosting the remaining matches of the T20 extravaganza. A day later, Sri Lanka Cricket has also put an offer of showing a keen interest in hosting the remaining matches of the 14th edition of the IPL on their soil.
As per the reports of ESPNcricinfo, The Kia Oval (London), Edgbaston (Birmingham) and Emirates Old Trafford and MCC, Surrey, Warwickshire, and Lancashire have come up with an offer to England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) inviting them to reach out to the BCCI. According to the report, the counties will be expecting to host the tournament in presence of the crowds. BCCI also is keen to tap the September window before the T20 World Cup to finish the league.

Despite several organizations willing to host the remaining IPL, the biggest hurdle for BCCI is finding a window long enough to complete the remaining 31 matches of the tournament. Arjuna de Silva, chief of SLC’s managing committee, has said that they can “certainly provide a window” to host the IPL in September.
During an exclusive telephonic interview from Colombo, Arjuna de Silva said, “Yes, we can certainly provide a window to host the IPL in the month of September.”
As per some reports, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) remains BCCI’s top choice to host the raming games of the IPL 2021 in the September window just before the T20 World Cup, especially after the last edition which was played turned out to be a huge success.
