Sri Lanka Cricket Board wants BCCI to Tour them in July

Last month, reports circulated that Sri Lanka Cricket had offered to host the 13th season of Indian Premier League amid the CoronaVirus. SLC’s proposal of hosting IPL 2020 will help them bring more cash flow into the Island nation. However, the possibility of the tournament happening is bleak due to the worldwide lockdown.

According to recent developments, Sri Lanka Cricket has contacted Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI),  for the possibility of resuming cricketing activities with a bilateral series between them in July. According to ICC’s FTP, The Men in Blue were slated to tour Sri Lanka in July. The Indian team was expected to play three ODIs and the T20Is against the Lankans.

Sri Lanka Cricket has expressed his desire to go ahead with the series and play the tournament in late July. Currently, the fellow subcontinent team is waiting for a response from BCCI.  If the series goes ahead as scheduled, it will be organized behind closed doors. Such actions will be taken to avoid mass gatherings of fans in a single place. The cricketers from both sides will also have to follow strict rules and regulations if the matches happen.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 virus has affected the world severely. Many major sporting events have either been postponed or canceled in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic affecting the globe. The cricketing calendar has suffered because of the same. Many reports have suggested that ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup will be called off if the situation don’t improve.
