Sri Lanka’s sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekera said that he can take some serious steps to resurrect cricketing structure in the Island nation.

Sri Lanka has seen a constant dip in the cricket since after the retirement of big names like Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, and Tillakaratne Dilshan. They have been very poor the cricketing field throughout 2017 in and faced three 5-0 whitewashes in the ODI cricket, which is a record now.

Give me a little time to resurrect things. I will not hesitate even to dissolve the cricket board if it takes to that,” said Jayasekera.

Earlier this week, he stopped nine members of Sri Lanka’s ODI team, who were traveling to play in India, as he was not happy with the team selection.

He believes SLC’s constitutional structure needs some amendment and he is very eager to make them. The Sports Minister wants to reduce the number of votes at SLC election. “I want to see it reduced to 75 from the present 140. I can’t politically interfere and appoint interim committees. But I am keen to see improvement in the local set up. I can’t politically interfere and appoint interim committees. But I am keen to see improvement in the local set up,” he added.

Sri Lanka is currently playing in India, where they have kicked their tour off with a Test series loss.
