The ICC World Cup 2019 is scheduled to commence in a week’s time as the opening match will be played between hosts England and South Africa on May 30. The Brits are hosting the tournament after a gap of 20 years and Australia will be entering the tournament as the defending champions which they won in Australia and New Zealand in CWC 2o15.

World Cup winning teams

Surprisingly both of these teams are yet to win any 50-over World title, despite England making the finals three times and South Africa making it to semi-finals quite a few times. The official broadcasters of the tournament, Star Sports has started promoting the tournament with full intensity by producing some hilarious content under its campaign ‘Cricket Ka Crown’ for the mega event.

The latest commercial saw trolling South Africa and England, who will be playing the opener on May 30. Neither of the teams has won the World Cup and that gave a different angle to the video content.

Then representatives of World Cup winning teams like India, West Indies, Australia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka were seen taking a dig at the representatives of Proteas and Poms for never getting a chance to lift the trophy.

Posting the video on Twitter, Star Sports tweeted, “Winning the #CricketKaCrown isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, is it? #ENG & #SA – two teams who are in search the glory for the 1st time – meet in the ICC #CWC19 opener!”

The tournament is seeing Australia, hosts England and India have been considered as favorites to lift the title given their previous record in the event and recent form which shows the hosts being the no.1 ranked ODI team and India being no.2 ranked on ICC ODI rankings.
