Australian skipper, Steve Smith has been going through the form of his life and his performance in Ashes certainly reflects on his ranking points in the ICC ranking for batsmen.

After a double century against England at Perth, a performance which helped Australia win the third Test in Perth and regain the Ashes, Smith has moved closer towards Australian cricket’s biggest legend, Don Bradman, who has the highest-ever ranking points.

Steve’s innings of 239 have helped him to reach 945 points to take a joint second position on the all-time list along with England’s Len Hutton. Smith had reached 941 points after the first Test in Adelaide before dropping briefly to 938 after the Brisbane Test.

Smith has gained seven points after his performance in Perth to overtake Peter May, Ricky Ponting, and Jack Hobbs, and is within 16 points of Bradman’s tally of 961 points. Even his batting average of 62.32 is second only to Bradman in terms of batsmen with at least 20 Test innings.
