The veteran Australian batsman, Steve Smith has almost given a warning to the Indian bowlers after “finding his hands back” ahead of the upcoming series against Virat Kohli and his men later this month. Smith had an ordinary season with the bat in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, in which he had amassed just 311 runs from 14 matches at an average of nearly 26 with three half-centuries.

Talking about the same with the reporters, Smith said, “The past few days I have found something … I have found my hands which I am extremely excited about. It’s just getting that feel of the bat behind my toe the right way, the way my hands come up the bat. But it just hasn’t quite been right until two days ago. I found a little something and everything just clicked in. I had a big smile on my face after training the other day.”

The last time India visited Australia in 2018-19, Smith missed the series as he was serving his year-long ball-tampering ban from international cricket. But the 31-year-old is all set and ready to help the hosts reclaim the Border-Gavaskar trophy from India, who won the Test series 2-1.

Talking about his own form against India, Smith reckons that he doesn’t know if he finds something extra when playing against big teams but only tries to get the best out of himself. Smith has maintained the average of 84 in Tests against India with 1429 runs from 10 matches including 7 centuries and 3 fifties.

Steve Smith elaborated, “In big series, I try and stand up and get the best out of myself. Whether there is something more inside me that comes out, I’m not sure.”
