The ball-tampering scandal that rocked Australia in late March is still making ripples in the news section and it was Steve Smith’s father who spoke to media regarding few speculations floating around Steve Smith.

In the third Test played at Cape Town, Australian batsman Cameron Bancroft was caught on camera altering the condition of the ball with the help of sandpaper. The matter grew worse as the Australian captain later confessed to conspiring the non-permitted action. The news caught fire and it was a sensation worldwide.

Cricket Australia did its investigation found the trio of Cameron Bancroft, David Warner and Steven Smith guilty. While Bancroft was handed a nine-month ban, Steven Smith and David Waner received a year-ban. They were also not allowed to take part in the IPL by BCCI.

Steve Smith particularly received enormous sympathy since the Test number one batsman was only a mute spectator in the whole drama. His press conference was nerve-wracking and incident still haunted him severely. Amongst such situation, few rumors came out which were cleared by his father.

In the emotional press conference, it was Smith’s father who was standing behind his broken son and was braving him to speak up. Now after months, Smith’s father again came out to clear a few things.

There was a talk regarding Smith playing in the first-class cricket of England. His father dismissed the possibility by stating that Steve is taking his mind off cricket. Sr.Smith also denied postponing the wedding of Steve and Daniella.

“She (Daniella) has been incredibly supportive and is his complete and absolute rock. It’s fair to say the wedding is still on — that’s their priority now. Steve is trying to relax away from Australia. He has to be away from things at the moment to get back to where he was, slowly and surely,” Smith’s father said according to the Daily Telegraph.
