Ben Stokes And Jos Buttler Receives Royal Honor In Buckingham Palace

On Tuesday, the English cricket stalwarts, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler received royal honors for their prolific performances in the ICC World Cup 2019, as England lifted the coveted trophy. Stokes, who was man-of-the-match in the World Cup 2019 final, collected the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his pivotal run in the World Cup. On the other hand, his teammate Buttler was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) at the Buckingham Palace ceremony.

Both Stokes and Buttler received their royal honors from the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William. England’s World Cup-winning skipper, Eoin Morgan and coach Trevor Bayliss alongside premier batsman Joe Root also received their respective awards at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Morgan is due to be appointed a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) and Root will also be made MBE, with Bayliss set to be made an OBE. In the World Cup final, Stokes remained unbeaten on 84 in the final to take the match to the super over. Alongside him, Buttler had scored a well-composed 59, to help England stay alive in the match.

In the Super Over, it was wicket-keeper Buttler, who collected the throw from Jason Roy which found Martin Guptill well short of his crease, to enable a victory for England via superior boundary count. Later in the year, Stokes hogged a lot of limelight with his unbeaten knock of 135 to help England win the Headingley Ashes Test against their traditional rivals.

Stokes made his ODI debut in 2011. Since then, he has featured in 95 matches for England. He has been playing a crucial role in the team. The Durham-based all-rounder had scored runs at an average of 40.63 in the 50-over leg. On the other hand, Buttler made his ODI debut in 2012 and made 142 appearances for the national team. He has scored runs at an average of 40.88 in the ODIs and has over 3,800 runs under his belt.

Both Stokes and Buttler are known for the hard-hitting abilities and on a day, can win matches on their own.
