Rashid’s tweet read: “Today I lost the most important person in my life, father-the everlasting. Now I know why you always asked me to be strong, because you knew that today I would need the strength to bear your loss. Will be always in my I miss you.”

Rashid has been one of the most successful bowlers in the world in recent times as he has the knack of keeping the batsmen under constant pressure by bowling quickly through the air while maintaining a stump-to-stump line. Not surprisingly, the cricketing world has showered him with messages ever since the news of his father’s death broke out.

Despite suffering such a personal tragedy, the hard-working leg-spinner decided to play for Adelaide Strikers in their contest against Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League. He stated that he is playing the game just as a tribute to his father. Meanwhile, his team and the opposition Thunder also paid a tribute to the leg-spinner’s father. The players took to the field wearing black armbands in the ongoing game on New Year’s Eve.

Rashid himself will be desperate to make a mark in the game.
