Struggle To Pay Rent, Reveals Peter Borren When Fan Asked ‘Holland Team Exists’

Veteran Netherlands player Peter Borren was asked about the existence of the Netherlands team by a fan after he tried to troll Shubhman Gill on Twitter. Replying to this fan, Borren revealed problems that Netherlands’ cricketers have to go through but he mentioned players wear the Orange with pride regardless of the financial instability.

Recently, Team India was defeated by New Zealand in the World Test Championship Final by New Zealand by eight wickets in Southampton’s Rose Bowl. The match was well fought by both teams and it was New Zealand who came on top on the sixth day.

Afterwards, they conduct the best moment overall. Shubhman Gill’s catch to dismiss Ross Taylor off Mohammed Shami was adjudged the best moment for the recently-concluded WTC Final.

Seeing this outcome, Peter Borren couldn’t hold his disbelief and laughed at it. However, this didn’t go down well to an Indian fan who straightaway asked Borren about the existence of the Holland cricket team.

Replying to it, Peter Borren took his words well as the Netherlands don’t play cricket very often and one will hardly hear about their matches. However, he went on to describe the agony of the Netherlands’ cricketers who don’t get highly paid by the national board. He revealed they struggle to pay the rent but always take pride in wearing the orange jersey of the national team.

Recently, Netherlands played five One-Day International matches – two against Scotland and three against Ireland. They won the three-game series against Ireland by 2-1 while drew the two-match series with one apiece. This shows they have the talent but lack the financial structure.

The Netherlands are in line to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021, which will take place in the UAE and Oman. They will play in the first round where eight teams will tight to qualify for the next round.
