In a lighthearted response to Australian media labeling Ollie Robinson as the “No.1 Villain” following England’s loss in the first Ashes Test, Stuart Broad, the experienced English pacer, took a humorous dig. Robinson found himself in an unusual moment during the second innings when he gave a rather unsportsmanlike send-off to Usman Khawaja, despite the Australian left-hander’s impressive innings of 141 runs.

The Australian media wasted no time in taunting Robinson, branding him as the top villain for his distasteful send-off to Khawaja. However, Broad decided to playfully address this claim in a tweet, expressing his disappointment.

“No. 1 villain Ollie Robinson has learned his fate over an expletive-laden send-off for Usman Khawaja,” tweeted Fox Cricket. In response, Broad humorously wrote, “No1 Villain?! I can’t have lost that tag already, can I?! Disappointing.”

It is worth noting that back in 2013, Broad himself was given the title of “public enemy” by the Australian press during the first Ashes Test. The incident occurred when Broad decided not to walk off the pitch after clearly edging a delivery from Nathan Lyon. The media heavily criticized Broad for his actions during that match.

As for the ongoing Ashes series, Australia, led by captain Pat Cummins, secured a dramatic victory on the final day with just two wickets remaining. Cummins played a crucial unbeaten innings of 44 runs from 73 balls to guide his team to a memorable win at Edgbaston.

Usman Khawaja, who scored 141 runs in the first innings and added 65 runs in the second innings, was named the Player of the Match. With Australia taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, England will be determined to level the score in the second Test, set to commence on June 28.
