After leaving the Windies duty, the 49-year-old former Australian cricketer will join the English County cricket club Middlesex from January 2019 as the head coach. Law took the head coach role of Windies cricket team in early 2017 after Phil Simmons was sacked on disciplinary action and since then Windies showed some growth in international cricket.

Talking about his finishing tenure with Windies cricket team, Law claimed it was the difficult decision as he enjoyed his head coach role with the Windies cricket team.

Law said, “I have had to make the difficult decision to leave my role of Head Coach with CWI. It has been very enjoyable, and I believe we have made tremendous strides forward as a Team during the past 2 years. I will be taking a role with Middlesex CCC which will keep me close to my family, whilst continuing within the cricket family. I wish the players and staff of CWI every success in the future.”

Under his tenure, Windies won the Test series against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh and also qualified for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup after finishing as the runner-up in the Qualifiers that was held in Zimbabwe in this March. Under his tenure, Windies have won six Tests out of 15 Tests, nine ODIs out of 33 ODIs and eight T20Is out of 19 T20Is.

Johnny Grave, the CWI CEO, believes Windies have made real progress under Law’s leadership and that’s why they felt disappointed by that decision.

Grave said, “I am disappointed that Stuart is leaving as I believe that we have made real progress under his leadership. I know it was a difficult decision for him and that ultimately the opportunity to work in England, where his family is now based, was a major factor in his decision. We will start the process to appoint a new Head Coach immediately.”
