Former Australia cricketer Stuart MacGill has finally opened up on his alleged kidnapping and assault, citing that he had “done nothing wrong” and the incident has taken a major toll on his family as well. The veteran legspinner was allegedly kidnapped near his home in Sydney on April 14 and he was taken to another part of the city where he was beaten and threatened with a gun.

However, he was freed after an hour of his kidnapping and no ransom was claimed from him for his release as well.  Meanwhile, New South Wales state police have charged four men for the entire incident, including the brother of MacGill’s partner Maria O’Meagher as well, and also said on Monday that they were searching for other three men who are also believed to be involved too.

On the other hand, Stuart MacGill has waited five days to report the incident but police said that he was “purely” a victim in this matter. Police have also shared that MacGill had introduced his partner’s brother to a famous drug dealer who is known to police as “Sonny” before his alleged kidnap as well.

“I know that I have done nothing wrong, Maria has done nothing wrong. If people choose to think something contrary to what’s been presented by both myself and the police, then that’s up to them,” MacGill said to Australian broadcaster Nine Network.

Stuart MacGill, who has worked as a manager at a Sydney restaurant that is owned by his partner, has said: “We consider ourselves to be the innocent parties in this one. Part of hospitality is making sure the room works. It’s hurt my family, and I know that a lot of people don’t really know what’s going on. But I can put both of us in the same boat too. We don’t know what’s going on.”
