The visitors are still 7 runs behind the first innings lead with skipper Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan Dickwella are at the crease.

Unlike the first two days, the rain God was disappeared today and we got the maximum amount of play of this tour. Cheteshwar Pujara reached to his personal milestone at the start of the day with yet another fifty before getting clean bold. Wriddhiman Saha and Ravindra Jadeja hung their bats for a reasonable time but both batsmen couldn’t convert their 20’s into something big.

At the end of the order, Mohammad Shami played some aggressive shots to take India 172 all-out. Lakmal was the star with the ball as he snared four wickets at the cost of 26 runs.

Sri Lanka came to bat after the lunch break and went off to a flier straight away with flurry of boundaries. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar brought the first breakthrough for India as he caught Karunaratne in front of the sticks. Very soon he got his second wicket and India was right on the top of this game for the first time.

However, former skipper Angelo Mathews partnered with Lahiri Thirimanne and added 99-runs for the third wicket. In the process, Thirimanne notched up his fifty before throwing his wicket away to Umesh Yadav, who went to take Mathews’ wicket as well in his very next over.

This looked like another comeback from India but skipper Chandimal denied any further hiccup and stayed calm till the bad lights forced an early stumps. Sri Lanka will continue their innings from 165/4 tomorrow and will eye as big lead as possible.
