Quinton de Kock’s return to the Lucknow Super Giants’ playing eleven didn’t go as planned, as a remarkable catch by Nitish Reddy led to his early dismissal in the ongoing match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The South African star had missed Lucknow Super Giants’ previous two games against Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Despite their victory against Mumbai Indians, the team faced a crushing 98-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in his absence. Following the disappointing loss, Lucknow Super Giants opted to bring back the wicketkeeper-batsman into the playing eleven, replacing Ashton Turner.

Ashton Turner’s performances in the last two games, scoring just 5 and 16 against Mumbai and Kolkata respectively, prompted this change. However, Quinton de Kock’s comeback didn’t yield the desired results as he was dismissed for a mere two runs off five balls in the ongoing match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Nitish Reddy showcased his fielding prowess by taking an outstanding catch at deep backward square leg, removing the dangerous Proteas batter from the crease.

In the third over of the innings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered a ball on the pads, prompting de Kock to play towards backward square leg. Although the shot seemed destined to clear the boundary, Nitish Reddy had other plans. With impeccable timing and athleticism, Reddy leaped to catch the ball just before it crossed the boundary.

Despite momentum carrying him over the boundary cushions, Reddy managed to toss the ball in the air, step back onto the field, and complete the catch. At the time of writing, Lucknow Super Giants, led by skipper KL Rahul, had won the toss and opted to bat first. As the game progresses, the team faces a challenging situation, standing at 21 for 2 in the fifth over.
