Many people must be aware of the fact that former Indian cricketer and a swash-buckling opener, Virender Sehwag, became the first Indian cricketer to score a triple hundred in Test cricket. The way in which he achieved this significant milestone is what has cherished around for so long.
It was the first Test of India’s tour of Pakistan in 2004. The Indian captain, Rahul Dravid, had won the toss and elected to bat. The first Indian wicket fell in the form of Aakash Chopra (42), but, India had already scored 160 runs in 39.3 overs until then. Sehwag was looking intimidating as ever. Having said that, no one would have guessed that his heroics would soon turn into history.
Sehwag ended up scoring 309 (375) with the help of 39 fours and six sixes. He was critical against every Pakistani bowler including Saqlain Mushtaq. Sehwag brought up his triple century by smashing a six off Mushtaq over long-on. India won the match comfortably by an innings and 52 runs.
