Windies batsman Sunil Ambris, who recently made news by getting dismissed hit-wicket in consecutive Tests, will not be featuring in the forthcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a fracture on his left forearm. Ambris got struck by a Neil Wagner bouncer while batting on Tuesday (December 12) in Hamilton against New Zealand in the second Test and he as immediately went off the field as retired hurt.
Sunil was then taken to a nearby hospital for an X-ray which later revealed that it’s a fracture. Consequently, it has been decided that he wouldn’t come out to bat again in the Test. Ambris was picked for this series after scoring two centuries for West Indies A against Sri Lanka A recently at home. But he has had quite a disappointing tour after replacing Kyle Hope in the squad.
Ambris impressed in the tour game with a 145-ball 153 but failed to replicate the performance in the two Tests. He has been pretty unlucky as well as he was dismissed hit-wicket twice in the first three innings of his Test career, scoring only 20 runs before getting retired hurt now for 5.
The limited-overs part of this tour starts with an ODI on December 20 in Whangarei.
