Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar and former Indian left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra have felt disappointed after Karun Nair has been fully overlooked in the five-match Test series in the England tour.

The 26-year-old right-handed Indian batsman has played six Tests and two Odis since his international cricket debut in June 2016 and has scored 374 runs with the average of 62.33. In his third Test, Nair hit a triple-century (303*) against England in Chennai and became the only second Indian batsman to score the triple hundred in a Test innings (after Virender Sehwag who did this twice).

Since then, Nair has played three more Tests where he never reached the 30-run mark. In fact, the 303 not out innings is the only 30+ innings in his Test career. Nair has played his last Test against Australia at Dharamsala in March 2017. He hasn’t played yet a single Test outside the home soil.

While it was expected that Nair would not get the chance to play the first four Tests of the ongoing five-match Test series in the English tour, the experts were expecting his opportunity in the final Test of this series. But after observing his no appearances in this Test series, they fume over the Indian team management.

Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar believes Nair deserves to get an important answer from the team management that why he hasn’t been selected.

Gavaskar said, “He (Karun Nair) is not your favourite player. The selectors seem to have brought him. Don’t think the team management likes him. Karun Nair has every right to ask the team management why he is not in the team. He deserves an answer. You didn’t pick an extra specialist batsman earlier, but now that you have, Karun Nair deserves an answer. What has Karun Nair done not to get selected … its utter nonsense.”

Meanwhile, the former Indian left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra takes it hilariously as he told on the pre-match show on Sony Ten Network., ”Karun Nair is in England to Sell Chole…With Kulcha & achar and pyaz free.”
