Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has become a player with a Midas touch for India since he has made a comeback in the squad following his thumb injury, Team India has hardly committed any mistake. In the third Test of the five-match series against England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. In the ongoing Test in Southampton, the pacer nipped out three crucial wickets.

However, despite Bumrah’ssuccess, his issues of bowling no-balls now and then, still not cured. To his misery, he has dismissed a couple of batsmen with the illegal delivery. In the recent encounter, in his third over of the Southampton Test, he pinned English captain Joe Root with a delivery that sharply jagged back after pitching.

The on-field umpire initially declared Root not out, but Bumrah asked the Indian skipper Virat Kohli to go for the Decision Review System (DRS). Replays showed that the bowler’s front foot landed beyond the bowling crease. It has been the second incident for Bumrah in the series already. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian batsman, believes that the speedster needs to somehow get rid of the issue as it’s not only agonizing but also adds to the workload of the bowler and the team.

In his column for Times of India (TOI), Gavaskar wrote“This is something that he has to work really hard at for it’s not just frustrating for him individually, but annoying for the team too as they feel they have got a wicket only to be denied because the bowler has overstepped. For a fast bowler, having to bowl an extra delivery is also tiring work.”

Last year in the final of the Champions Trophy 2017, Jasprit paid a huge price for bowling a no-ball when he got the better of Fakhar Zaman at the KIA Oval in London. The southpaw opener went on score 114 runs from 106 balls and helped the Pakistan team to put on 338 runs, a score which turned out to be a far cry for Virat Kohli’s men.
