Former Indian cricket greats Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev hugely praised the former ICC (International Cricket Council) Chairman and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) President N Srinivasan for his actions to improve the sportsperson’s life.
Recently, many Indian cricket stars were present at the launch of a coffee-table book on Srinivasan at the Kalaivanar Arangam (Chennai) on Friday (December 28). This book, titled “Defying The Paradigm”, has been published in the celebration of Srinivasan’s 50 years of association with India Cements.

Former Indian cricket stars praised Srinivasan for taking care of the cricketers. During his term, he introduced the benefit schemes for the former Indian national and domestic cricketers. Moreover, widows of the former cricketers are now also benefited with their special schemes.
The legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar said in that launch, “I don’t think the cricket fraternity is ever going to forget Srinivasan for his benefit schemes, and others.”

On the other hand, the former World Cup-winning captain (1983) Kapil Dev also lauded him for setting a special benchmark for the world sports.
The 1983 WC-winning captain said, “I met Mr. Srinivasan 20 years back or maybe little more. I had almost finished my career – why did you come so late? We played cricket at the very highest level. But we never had a person like you who could administer us when we were playing cricket.
“You were the one who made impact in the cricketing world. I can say proudly we used to wish our salaries would be like Australian or English players. Today, all Australian, England and South African players are saying – can we have a salary like Indian players?
“Today without any doubt any sports you take, nobody will perceive the way Srinivasan did in cricket. He has set a benchmark for other sports to follow.”
