Legendary India cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar came up with a befitting tribute for the inspirational performance of the Indian team as he hailed the mental strength and grit displayed by Ajinkya Rahane and his men in the 4-Test series after the Adelaide heartbreak. Gavaskar said no matter what happens in Brisbane, the Indian fans will be truly proud of this team and the Australians will always remember what the visitors achieved this summer.
During a recent chat with 7 cricket, Sunil Gavaskar said, “It doesn’t matter what happens here at the Gabba over these final two days. We Indians can and will be truly proud of our cricketers. I have led Indian teams on tours of Australia and no first hand, just how challenging it can be. But what we have witnessed in this series is something extraordinary. The tour has tested India not just physically but mentally as well.”

He further added, “The resolve, fortitude, and spirit displayed by these players has been inspiring. Most have been away from home and in the horrid team for over five months. They have been routed in the most crushing way and with the world watching. What we’ve witnessed in this series is extraordinary. Explaining it further, Sunil Gavaskar said, “They have seen friends battered and broken. They have been tested to their mental and cricketing limits at every turn, every minute. And even under that most intense train, they have never stopped fighting. And they may still somehow manage to take the trophy home.”

Gavaskar was of the opinion that despite fact that the trophy has been named to honor him and the great Allan Border, the Indian team has managed to embody the mental toughness and skill. He reckons that one will always remember what these Indians have achieved this summer.
