Former India player Sunil Gavaskar applauded MS Dhoni for the way he has been captaining Chennai Super Kings and how he bails out CSK from tough situations. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, Chennai Super Kings won the Indian Premier League four times and finished as runners-up five times as well. However, Gavaskar called Dhoni a different captain, saying that there will never be a captain like him in the future.
“Chennai Super Kings know how to get out of tough situations. This has been possible only under MS Dhoni’s captaincy,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports’ Cricket Live Show.
However, MS Dhoni recently etched his name in the IPL record books, becoming the first player to lead an IPL team in 200 matches. As the captain of CSK, Dhoni has won 120 matches and lost only 79 as well.

“Captaining 200 matches is very difficult. Captaining so many matches is a burden and it could have affected his performance as well. But Mahi is different. He is a different captain. There hasn’t been a captain like him and there will never be one like him in the future,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 17. The match will be a crucial one for both sides as whoever wins would break into the top four in the points table as well. CSK lead the head-to-head record against RCB, 20-10 as well.

“Virat Kohli is giving RCB flying starts at the start of the innings. He deserves a lot of credit for the starts RCB is getting and the runs the team is managing to post on the board because of his starts. These are good signs for RCB,” Sunil Gavaskar concluded.
