Former Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir, who has now become a commentator was in the limelight for his comment on Dinesh Karthik a few days back. Gambhir confessed that he does not see the wicket-keeper getting selected in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022.
Gautam Gambhir had said, “I would not have him (Karthik) in the World Cup Squad. I would definitely have people like Rishabh Pant, and Deepak Hooda (in the team). We have got KL Rahul, we’ve got Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma. Once they come back, it’s going to be tough for Dinesh Karthik to find a place in the playing XI. If he doesn’t have a place in the playing XI, there’s no point giving him a place in the squad.”

Meanwhile, legendary Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar has taken an indirect dig at Gautam Gambhir for his statements on Karthik in the post-match show after the 4th T20I between India and South Africa. The Mumbaikar has come in support of the wicket-keeper to be part of the Indian squad for the marquee ICC event.
Sunil Gavaskar showered the finisher with some serious praise. He believes that Karthik can be the answer to India’s worries at the lower order. Dinesh Karthik played an exceptional knock in the same game when the hosts were in a tricky situation. He scored 55 off just 27 deliveries at a crucial stage. The wicket-keeper was named as the player of the match for the match-winning knock.

During a chat on Star Sports, Sunil Gavaskar said, “I know people are talking about how can you include him in the team when he’s not going to play. How do you see he’s not going to be able to play? He could be the guy you want. You look at the form and not reputations, names and then you pick the guy.”

If he is not selected the whole selectors will be considered as bunch of Jokers not my words it's Mohinder Amarnath words when he was not selected. The selectors will lose the credibility if performance is not rewarded will become a subject of ridicule
