Sunil Gavaskar Warns Fans Against Fake Quotes Attributed to Him

Sunil Gavaskar, celebrated for his candid opinions and deep love for Indian cricket, remains as energetic as ever in the commentary box even at 75. Recently, Gavaskar addressed the issue of fake quotes being circulated under his name on social media and some sports websites. He urged fans to verify and fact-check such reports before believing them. In a video posted on Instagram, he clarified he had not made many of the statements attributed to him and emphasized the importance of relying only on credible sources.

Recently, Gavaskar spoke out against websites and social media accounts attributing fake quotes to him. In a video on Instagram, he said, “Over the past few months, I’ve noticed a surge in quotes and comments attributed to me which I never made.”

He added, “I sincerely request everyone to verify and fact-check before believing such reports, especially when they come from individual accounts and certain sports websites. God bless you all.” In his post’s caption, he urged, “Please verify before believing quotes attributed to me.”

 

Currently, Gavaskar is in England, providing commentary during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He was visibly delighted when Rishabh Pant notched up a century in the second innings of the first Test at Headingley, though Pant chose not to perform his trademark somersault celebration and instead stayed focused on consolidating India’s position.
