Suresh Raina, Ravi Shastri all set to do commentary in IPL 2022

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina and former India head coach Ravi Shastri are all set to return in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with a new role. According to a report in Dainik Jagran, an IPL source has stated that they want Suresh Raina to be part of the 15th edition of the league after he went unsold in the mega auction. So, he will be joining as a commentator.

However, the 10-team Indian Premier League 2022 tournament will begin from March 26 and all the games will be played in Maharashtra across 4 different venues including Wankhede Stadium, Dy Patil Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium as well. Meanwhile, Suresh Raina, who is popularly known as Mr IPL, went unsold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction as well.

Meanwhile, along with Raina, former India head coach Ravi Shastri will also be seen as a commentator and for the first time, he will be seen doing commentary in Hindi as well. Notably, he has the experience of doing it but he has not done commentary since the 2017 Champions Trophy. And, with this, he will also make a comeback to the commentary job as well. Sources also add that Shastri is performing rehearsals and taking Hindi language classes to prepare for the commentary duties during the India Premier League as well.

Meanwhile, recently he came in the news when Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans franchise got a huge blow as England opener Jason Roy decided to pull out of the upcoming 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Roy, who plied his trade with Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2021, was signed by the Pandya-led franchise for the 15th season of the world’s richest T20 league. He was bought by Gujarat Titans at his base price of INR 2 crore. With Roy opting to pull out of the IPL 2022, fans and followers of the Gujarat-based franchise to sign veteran batter Suresh Raina as his replacement. However, it didn’t happen later on as well.
