“Laxman Bhai was suffering from a back spasm. I had never seen Laxman Bhai so angry. Pragyan Ojha then Ishant Sharma came and he batted very nicely. We all four were talking and Mitchell Johnson was bowling reverse swing. Then Hussey fielded and threw a bowl but it missed the stumps. When I went in as a substitute runner, I decided that I will dive but not get Laxman Bhai out,” Suresh Raina said.
Chasing 216 to win, India was stranded at 124 for 8 – with VSS Laxman battling it out with the tailenders. Suffering from back spams, Laxman continued batting Suresh Raina as his substitute runner. Laxlam was India’s only and his wicket meant game over for India. Laxman knew that and thus took every step in the game with utmost caution. Laxman once hit the ball to mid-off and called for a single. However, non-striker Pragyan Ojha got confused and didn’t run.
