Mumbai faced Services in an exciting encounter of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on December 3. Mumbai batted first, but the start was far from ideal. The top order faltered early, with Prithvi Shaw departing for a duck, and Ajinkya Rahane contributing just 22 runs off 18 balls.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer also fell cheaply, scoring only 20 runs, leaving Mumbai in a precarious position. However, it was Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube who turned things around with their stellar middle-order performances. Yadav played a brilliant knock of 70 runs off 46 balls, anchoring the innings, while Dube, with an explosive 71* off 37 balls, ensured that Mumbai posted a competitive total.

The Services bowlers, including PS Poonia, Vishal Gaur, VU Yadav, and Amit Shukla, each took a wicket, but their efforts couldn’t contain the explosive middle-order batting of Mumbai.
