In a lighthearted moment during Mumbai Indians’ clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium, Suryakumar Yadav added a touch of humour by teasing Abhishek Sharma during the mid-innings break. As both teams mingled on the field, Surya playfully checked Abhishek’s pockets, pretending to search for a “note,” referencing Abhishek’s viral celebration against Punjab Kings, where he flashed a hand-written message to the crowd after scoring a century.

The moment drew laughter from both players and highlighted the camaraderie among India’s young cricketers, despite playing for rival franchises. On the cricketing front, Abhishek looked confident following his ton in the previous match and gave SRH a solid start with a breezy 40 off 28 balls, decorated with seven boundaries.

Abhishek Shaema struck three classy fours off Deepak Chahar in a single over, but Hyderabad failed to build momentum as wickets began to fall regularly. Hardik Pandya struck early for Mumbai by removing Abhishek, thanks to a well-judged diving catch from Raj Angad Bawa.

MI kept the pressure on with smart bowling rotations. Will Jacks, who had a stellar outing, got Ishan Kishan stumped cheaply, and Travis Head struggled to break free. The first six of Hyderabad’s innings came only in the 18th over, underlining how well Mumbai had contained the opposition. Heinrich Klaasen managed a late burst with a 28-ball 37, including two sixes, helping push SRH to a modest 162/5.

The final over saw some fireworks from Aniket Verma and Pat Cummins, who took 22 runs off Pandya to add late respectability. Mumbai chased the total with discipline and flair, clinching a well-deserved victory. As the team now shifts focus to their next high-voltage clash against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, they’ll be hoping to carry this winning momentum into the second half of the season.
