Suryakumar Yadav had witnessed his first outing in the net session for the Indian team ahead of the T20I series against England in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Suryakumar, who got his maiden call-up in the national squad after terrific performances in domestic cricket, posted a picture of from his batting practice at the Narendra Modi Stadium at Motera.
Indian selectors were immensely criticized for ignoring Suryakumar during the limited-overs series in Australia last year but finally rewarded him for his consistency with a place in the Indian T20 squad for the upcoming 5-match series against England which starts from March 12.

Recently, Suryakuamr Yadav posted a picture of him practicing in the nets and captioned it as, “Blue, bat and 22 yards… feels like home.” He has been a consistent performer for Mumbai Indians for the last few years and played a key role in the Rohit Sharma-led side’s 5th Indian Premier League (IPL) title triumph in IPL 2020.

In IPL 2020, Yadav had amassed as many as 480 runs from 16 matches at an average of 40.22 with 4 half-centuries at a strike rate of 145.01. And 10 years since his Mumbai debut, there he was, a twinkling name in the T20I squad for the series against England.

Talking about the youngster during a chat on Star Sports, VVS Laxman said, “He (Surya) deserves it, I think he is a great role model for youngsters, especially in India; because they lose patience very quickly – because all positive run-getters in first-class cricket expect to get into the Indian team but it is difficult.”
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video of the Indian players practicing for the T20s.

In the video, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli could be seen batting in the nets followed by Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shikhar Dhawan. While Virat could be seen playing a glorious cover-drive, others such as KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan could be seen muscularly pulling away from the short-ball deliveries.
