Suryakumar Yadav has revealed the one skill he would love to borrow from young Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. In a recent interview, the Mumbai Indians batter picked Sooryavanshi’s extraordinary six-hitting ability, highlighting the teenager’s power and consistency when clearing the boundary.
Sooryavanshi enjoyed a sensational IPL 2026 campaign with the Rajasthan Royals. The 15-year-old scored 776 runs in 16 innings at a staggering strike rate of 237.31. His aggressive batting produced 72 sixes, breaking Chris Gayle’s previous record of 59 sixes in an IPL season, set in 2012.
“There is a young boy, you must have heard his name – Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Definitely his six-hitting ability,” Suryakumar Yadav said in an interview with Humans of Bombay.

Sooryavanshi’s consistency throughout the season saw him collect several major individual awards. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP), won the Orange Cap for being the tournament’s leading run-scorer and also received the Best Emerging Player award.
His performances were particularly impressive considering his age. The left-handed batter maintained an attacking approach throughout the tournament and regularly delivered match-changing innings, quickly becoming one of the biggest talking points of IPL 2026.
Yadav, meanwhile, endured a relatively difficult campaign compared to the young Rajasthan Royals star. He scored 270 runs in 12 innings as Mumbai Indians finished ninth in the 10-team competition. The drop was significant after Suryakumar had previously claimed the Orange Cap in IPL 2025.
Despite the contrasting seasons, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s breakthrough earned him opportunities beyond the IPL. His performances helped him earn a place in India’s T20I squad before he was also selected for the Asian Games 2026.
