India concluded the T20I series impressively at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, securing a robust 4-1 victory against England. The exciting finale on Sunday drew a full stadium, where fans and celebrities revelled in the vibrant atmosphere while the Men in Blue delivered a dominant show. All eyes now turn to the upcoming ODI series, which kicks off on February 6 at VCA Stadium in Nagpur.

Team India dominated England in the T20I series

Rohit Sharma will be taking over the reins as captain in this series. India’s win in Mumbai was their second-largest in terms of runs in T20Is. Abhishek Sharma was the showstopper with a thrilling century, and Varun Chakravarthy was awarded Player of the Series for consistent brilliance with the ball.

This match was just a testament to India’s fearlessness and aggression in cricket philosophy that their captain Suryakumar Yadav espoused throughout the series. Speaking after the match, Suryakumar reflected on the team’s approach and lauded key performers.

“It’s always about being a little instinctive on the ground, whoever you feel might do something, throw them the ball. This is what we’ve sat down and spoken about—what brand of cricket we want to play, and we want to keep sticking to it. It’s a high-risk, high-reward game, but at the end of the day, we’re getting results. I’m very happy for Abhishek and his family; they must have enjoyed his innings. It was great to watch,” Suryakumar said.

He also lavished praise on Chakravarthy’s hard work and dedication, especially his fielding. “Varun has been tirelessly working hard with our fielding coach T. Dilip. Today, he put his hand up and said he wanted to field in the outfield, and you saw the results. He’s a process-oriented man, always looking to refine his skills,” Suryakumar added.

On the other hand, England’s captain Jos Buttler expressed disappointment over his team’s series loss but acknowledged the positives they could take forward.

“We’re disappointed to lose the series, but we’ve done some things well and identified areas to improve. We want to keep committing to this style of cricket and execute better. These are great experiences for us, and we get much better with it, especially here in India in front of this fantastic crowd. We had a great day at the office; some of the bowlers – Brydon Carse and Mark Wood were pretty special today. I have watched a lot of cricket, but Abhishek’s innings has to be right up there, one of the best I’ve seen,” said Buttler.

With the ODI series on the horizon, the two teams would look to reboot and perfect their strategies as India would seek to carry the momentum forward while England would hope to redeem themselves in the longer format.
