With the weight of history and rivalry adding fuel to the contest, India captain Suryakumar Yadav has assured fans that his side will take the field with their trademark aggression.

“Aggression is always there when we take the field. Without aggression, I don’t think you can play the sport. I’m very excited to take the field tomorrow,” said Suryakumar Yadav at the captains’ meet ahead of the tournament opener between Afghanistan and Hong Kong, China.

His counterpart, Salman Agha, shared a similar sentiment, encouraging his team to channel their aggression positively.

“Players are different individuals. If somebody wants to be aggressive on the field, they are welcome to. Fast bowlers, especially, thrive on that aggression. There are no restrictions from me as long as it stays on the field,” Salman Agha said.

“We’ve had good practice sessions. Playing the best teams in Asia will be a challenge, but that’s what excites us,” he added.

Before the blockbuster India-Pakistan clash, India will begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the UAE, a side coached by former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput. Suryakumar acknowledged the UAE’s recent progress, praising their competitive spirit in the recent series.
