Suryakumar Yadav Reaches no.2 Position In Latest ICC T20 Rankings

The in-form Indian batter, Suryakumar Yadav has taken a jump of a couple of places up to No.2 in the latest ICC T20I rankings among batters. The right-hander is currently in the West Indies where he is taking part in the five-match T20I series. Yadav made his T20I debut last year and has been in a stupendous form of late. In the third T20I against Nicholas Pooran’s Caribbean unit, Yadav won the Player of the Match award after scoring 76 runs off 44 balls with the help of eight fours and four maximums.

On the back of his stupendous knock, India registered a comprehensive win by seven wickets and took a 2-1 lead in the series. Suryakumar Yadav, in the meantime, is only two rating points short of Pakistan skipper Babar Azam’s tally in the ICC rankings. The 27-year-old Babar is currently the World No.1 batter with a tally of 818 points.

Yadav is currently on 816 points, his best in his short career. Suryakumar Yadav also became the fifth Indian men’s batter to score a T20I century and he achieved the feat against Jos Buttler’s England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The Mumbai-born batter has been maintaining averages in the high-60s in run-chases for the Men in Blue.

Having played the match-winning knocks, Suryakumar Yadav has more or less cemented his spot in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2021 later this year on Australian soil. In 22 T20Is, Yadav has amassed 648 runs at an average of 38.12 and a strike rate of 175.61.

In the T20I batting rankings, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and South Africa’s Aiden Markram went one place down. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli went one place down to No.28 in the rankings while Deepak Hooda went 10 places down to No.88.

Indian top-order batters Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul are ranked No.14, 16, and 20 respectively.
