In a light-hearted and insightful segment on Star Sports ahead of Match 63 between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede, Suryakumar Yadav took fans through some of his most memorable shots – and the stories behind them. The standout moment? His audacious scoop shot off Jofra Archer during an IPL 2020 clash between MI and Rajasthan Royals.

Suryakumar rated that iconic stroke a perfect 10/10, not just for the execution but for the context. He revealed that Archer had rattled him with a bouncer that struck his helmet just one ball earlier. But instead of retreating, SKY dug deep and brought out a shot he hadn’t even attempted that season.

“I was determined to play it, even if it meant losing my wicket,” he said, his trademark fearlessness on full display. When asked whether he plans these outrageous shots or relies purely on instinct, Yadav clarified that much of it comes from meticulous planning around field placements.

The instinct, he added, is backed by hours of net practice where such strokes get etched into his muscle memory. “Once I decide to go for it, there’s no second-guessing. I have a clear mind,” he stated.

As for the match at hand, the Mumbai Indians are set to take on the Delhi Capitals in what could be a playoff decider. Rain may play spoilsport, but stakes remain sky-high.

MI had edged past DC in their previous meeting this season with a narrow 12-run win, part of a six-game winning streak. Now, with only one playoff spot left and Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and RCB already through, tonight’s clash could well be a virtual knockout, with both teams sitting precariously at fourth and fifth in the standings.
