India captain Suryakumar Yadav celebrated the team’s historic triumph in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a nostalgic moment alongside his wife, Devisha Shetty. The couple recreated a memorable 2024 photograph, lying on a bed with the T20 World Cup trophy placed between them — a gesture that quickly caught the attention of fans on social media. The original image dates back to India’s previous title win in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

At the time, Devisha had shared the heartwarming photo with the caption, “It’s going to be a good night’s sleep,” perfectly capturing the relief and joy after India ended a long ICC trophy drought. Nearly two years later, Suryakumar recreated the pose after leading India to another world title, posting the picture with a short but meaningful caption: “Déjà vu.”
The moment symbolised how far Suryakumar’s journey has come in a short span of time. In the 2024 final in Barbados, he produced one of the tournament’s most iconic moments when he took a stunning catch in the final over to dismiss David Miller. That effort helped India secure the title. Fast forward to 2026, and Suryakumar was leading the India national cricket team as captain during another historic campaign.

Throughout the competition, India looked like the most dominant side. Their only setback came against the South Africa national cricket team during the Super 8 stage. Apart from that defeat, the Men in Blue maintained complete control of the tournament.
The final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 8 saw India overpower the New Zealand national cricket team. Batting first, India piled up an imposing 255/5. Sanju Samson led the charge with a brilliant 89 off just 46 balls, while Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan added quick-fire half-centuries. Shivam Dube also chipped in with a valuable cameo to push the total beyond 250.

In response, New Zealand struggled to keep up with the steep chase. India’s bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah, dominated the second innings. Bumrah delivered a match-winning spell, finishing with four wickets as New Zealand were bowled out for 159. The emphatic 96-run victory sealed another unforgettable chapter in India’s T20 World Cup history.
