Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav shared an injury update after he sustained an ankle injury in India’s third and final T20I on Thursday, December 14 at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. During the third over of South Africa’s run-chase, Suryakumar twisted his ankle while fielding. and the physiotherapist came running out to check on him as well.

He went out of the field for a brief while after Ravindra Jadeja took charge in the middle as well. After the match, Suryakumar said that his injury is “not that serious”, which is certainly a relief for India ahead of the ODI series, starting Sunday, December 17.

“I am good. I am able to walk so it is not that serious,” Suryakumar was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav became only the third batter after Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell to score four centuries in T20Is. He, who is currently the No.1 ranked batter in T20Is, reached his century off 55 balls. Suryakumar was happy after he became the Player of the Match following India’s massive 106-run victory.

“It was wonderful scoring a hundred, and especially when it comes in a winning cause,” he further added.

Suryakumar Yadav also went past Virat Kohli in the list of most sixes for India in T20Is. However, he is only three sixes away from going past Aaron Finch and Chris Gayle. Earlier in the series against South Africa, Suryakumar became the joint-fastest Indian with Kohli to score 2000 runs in T20Is as well. The swashbuckling batter made his debut back in 2021 and since then, he has evolved a lot.
