After India’s crushing defeat against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2021, Virat Kohli’s old tweet is doing round on social media. Kohli shared this tweet back in 2011 and had expressed his sadness after a defeat.

India’s batting line-up failed to live up to the expectations against New Zealand and faltered against Trent Boult and co. After losing too many wickets upfront without scoring runs at a good pace, the lower-order batsmen couldn’t do much and India scored just 110 runs in 20 overs.

Indian bowlers couldn’t do much to defend this modest total as New Zealand won the match by eight wickets with 33 balls to spare.

After India’s defeat, Twitterati brought up Virat Kohli’s 10-year-old tweet where he was expressing sadness after a defeat. This tweet was shared by Kohli back in January 2011.

“Sad for the loss 🙁 going home now,” Kohli wrote in a tweet dated January 23, 2011.

Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan broke India’s jinx of the World Cups. They restricted India to a below-par total as Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled a sensational spell with the new ball, where he dismissed Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul inside the powerplay. Suryakumar Yadav also perished inside the powerplay. Kohli played a good innings and scored a good fifty to help India to score 151 runs.

Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam came out with determination. They didn’t take many risks before getting their eyes in and helped Pakistan to chase down the target with all ten wickets in hand. Both openers scored unbeaten fifties and broke India’s jinx.
