Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are locking horns in the third match of the Super 12 round in Sharjah. Both teams made it to the Super 12 stage after advancing from the qualifying rounds.
Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bowl first. Maheesh Theekshana missed out from the playing XI as Binura Fernando replaced him. On the other hand, Taskin Ahmed made way for Nasum Ahmed.

Bangladesh scored 171/4 in 20 overs, where Mohammad Naim and Mushfiqur Rahim scored the fifties.
In response, Sri Lanka got off to a good start despite Kusal Parera getting out in the first over. Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka steadied things with a solid partnership. They scored 69 runs before Shakib Al Hasan came to bowl in the ninth over and took two wickets in the same over to change the course of the match.
However, Charith Asalanka was going strong from one end and didn’t allow Bangladesh to do further damage. Bhanuka Rajapaksa targeted Mohammad Saifuddin who came to bowl the 16th over. He smashed two sixes and one four on his first three deliveries to tilt the match in Sri Lanka’s favour.

Riding on Asalanka and Rajapaksa’ fifties, Sri Lanka chased down the target with five wickets in hand and seven balls to go.

Earlier, Liton Das and Mohammad Naim gave Bangladesh a solid opening in the powerplay. The duo scored 40 runs before Lahiru Kumara dismissed Liton Das for 16. Shakib Al Hasan walked out to bat at number three and showed his intent straightaway by hitting two boundaries in one over. However, Chamika Karunaratne dismissed Shakib in his first over to reduce Bangladesh for 58/2 in 8 overs.
Naim got out after 62 runs before Mushfiqur Rahim scored a flamboyant fifty to help Bangladesh post 171/4 in 20 overs.
