West Indies and Australia locked horns in their respective final league match of the T20 World Cup 2021 in Abu Dhabi. Australia have to win this game to keep their hopes to qualify for the semi-finals while West Indies are already out of the tournament.
Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to bowl first. Dwayne Bravo announced that this will be his last international match and he will retire at the end of this T20 World Cup.

West Indies started their innings off at a brisk rate but Chris Gayle got out after hitting two sixes. Gayle walked out giving an ovation to every corner of the park which suggested that he might be ending his international career as well at the end of this game.
Gayle waved to every corner of the stadium. Later on, he gifted his match gears to the fans as well in the ground while his teammates were giving him hugs, which further confirmed Gayle’s retirement plan.
West Indies managed to score 157/7 in 20 overs, where Kieron Pollard scored 44 runs in 31 balls.
In response, David Warner gave Australia a blistering start. He smashed boundaries for fun despite losing his opening partner Aaron Finch. Mitchell Marsh gave Warner good company in the middle and the duo scored 124 runs for the second wicket and the defeat was all but inevitable for West Indies.
With 8 runs required in the last five overs, Pollard handed the ball to Chris Gayle. He tried his best to keep Australian batters quiet. In the process, he missed a chance to dismiss Warner when Nicholas Pooran missed a simple stumping chance. However, Gayle dismissed Mitchell Marsh on the last ball of the over to finish his international career with a wicket.

Gayle was jumping with joy after this wicket and he jumped on the shoulders of Marsh when he got out.

Marsh scored 53 runs in 32 balls, which featured five fours and two sixes. Warner remained unbeaten on 89 in 56 balls, where he hit nine fours and four sixes. Australia won the match by eight wickets with 22 balls to spare.
