T20 WC: Watch: Ireland’s Curtis Campher Takes Four Wickets In Four Balls Vs Netherlands

Ireland pacer Curtis Campher make history on Monday during the match against the Netherlands when he took four wickets in four balls. He became the third bowler to take four wickets in successive balls and the first-ever to do so in the T20 World Cup.

Ireland and Netherlands were up against each other in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2021 qualifier in Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Both teams are drawn in the same group and the top two teams will proceed to the Super 12.

The Netherlands won the toss and opted to bat first. They lost their first wicket for a golden duck as Ben Cooper got run out in the very first over. They scored 25 runs inside the powerplay and were going steadily by the ninth over.

Curtis Campher came to bowl the tenth over and changed the course of the game within just four balls. He dismissed Ackermann before dismissing the next two batsmen for golden ducks to complete a hat-trick. However, he wasn’t done as he dismissed Roelof van der Merwe to claim his fourth wicket in as many balls.

He became only the third bowler in the history of T20I cricket to take four wickets in four balls. Lasith Malinga and Rashid Khan did it before him. However, Campher is the first bowler to do so in the T20 World Cup.

Ireland restricted the Netherlands to 106/10 in 20 overs, where Max ODowd was the chief contributor with his 47-ball 51 runs.

Chasing the total, Ireland didn’t show any hurry and hunted down the target in 15.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. Paul Stirling scored unbeaten 30 runs in 39 balls while Gareth Delany made quickfire 44 runs in 29 balls, which included five fours and two sixes.
