Mankading has become a matter of debate in recent time of world cricket where contrasting opinions can be seen from the cricketing fraternity. Meanwhile, South African left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has backed it as he said that it should continue until the batsman learns to stay inside.
However, his comments came after a post from Brad Hogg of the IPL 2021 match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. There it can be seen that Dhawal Kulkarni was standing at the non-striker’s end and also left the crease too early before Lungi Ngidi delivered the ball.
It was a nail-biting thriller between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) as Mumbai won on the final ball by six wickets on the back of Kieron Pollard’s 87 off 33 balls. Pollard was on strike and they needed two runs to win on the final ball. He played it to mid-wicket and the batsmen completed two runs comfortably while chasing a huge total of 219 runs.

However, Brad Hogg took to his official Twitter handle and shared the picture where the batter at the non-striker’s end was seen too far from the crease and questioned whether it comes in the spirit of the game or not. Brad Hogg tweeted: “Sorry again for my harp. Last night last ball 2 runs needed and the non striker again taking advantage. Is this in the spirit of the game. #IPL2020 #MIvsCSK”

To which, Tabraiz Shamsi replied that the bowlers should continue mankading until the batsmen learn to stay behind the crease. He tweeted: “Mankad. . .mankad and keep on mankadding until batsmen learn to stay behind the line just like bowlers have to keep their foot behind the line while bowling
And if in the heat of the moment, somewhere down the line if I end up STEALING a few yards as a non striker MANKAD ME TOO!”
