At the end of the first innings, the Sri Lankan opener, Pathum Nissanka played a fighting knock of 72 runs off 58 balls to help his team reach a respectable score of 142 in 20 overs in Sharjah. After Kusal Perera was dismissed early (7) in the innings, Nissanka and Charitha Asalanka decided to rebuild and prevent a collapse for the batting side before an unfortunate run-out triggered a downfall.
